When I was a lot younger, I didn’t know that the top tier of the wedding cake can be stored in a keepsake memories box in the freezer, to be eaten again after the one year mark. It was an age old tradition, I learned much, much later…when I got to that “wedding” age. One that should bring wealth and prosperity to the wedded couple. Today, there are still plenty of couple who follow that tradition. I know of a couple who recently gave us a peak of how she and her husband celebrated their one year mark eating their one year old cake. She remarked that it still tasted delicious.
Of course, the making and designing of a wedding cake seems as tedious as deciding on what style your wedding gown should be. It must be carefully well thought of and it must also be a reflection of the couple’s taste and personality. To enjoy something on your wedding day, and a year after that, your cake must be baked very well by a very capable professional. You must let this baker know exactly what you want and what you need from your cake and if possible, give them a visual of it by showing sample pictures.
