Planning Your Reception’s Seating Arrangement

When all the wedding preparations are done and the final “Save the Date” Magnet has been mailed, the invitations sent out and the RSVP’s returned, one of the last few tasks the bride and groom have to do is to prepare the seating arrangement.

The easiest way to go about it is to prepare a seating chart so that you have a basic idea or a visual replica of how everything looks. Use toothpicks or push pins to represent guests in your chart and then try to mix up people so that everyone can mingle well. They say one of the best places to meet someone is at a wedding, so perhaps your single friends would probably like to be seated with each other.. Do keep in mind however, to not seat together possible guests that may create tension.

It would also be a good idea to come up with a list of your confirmed guests using a spreadsheet file. This should make grouping together your guests easier as you can classify each according to your side or the family or the groom’s side of the family and then assigned them seats according to this structure.

Lastly, make sure that your parents have the best seats in the house, so to speak.
