Dressing up the Mom of the Bride & Groom
In most weddings, dresses for the mothers of the bride and groom are also especially tailor-made. They come coordinated with the theme of the wedding, or similar to that of the bridal entourage. From the kind of material used down to the jewelry, everything should be uniformed or complimentary. If one mom is wearing a Contemporary Rhinestone Jewelry Set, the other must also be wearing something equal to it. If one mom is wearing a fabulous gown, the other’s design must also be similarly fabulous.
A note to dressing up mothers for the wedding though….usually the styles designed for them end up making frumpy moms out of these queens of the house. These can be avoided by getting the right designer and tailor for it. The dresses don’t have to be trendy and fashionable. The style doesn’t have to be contemporary to make them look younger. On the contrary, they have to be classic and elegant, but done so with the right cut and accent or highlights.
Separates actually work best for Mothers who are already a bit older as this can be mixed and much with something else that will help give a more youthful look. Separates are also very practical, since these can be worn elsewhere after the wedding.
