Getting Into the Vintage Groove
There’s no denying the fact that vintage has become the new black. It’s been one of the most popular themes that couples have embraced in their wedding. Hence, when my friend asked me to help her plan out a vintage theme prewedding celebration, it wasn’t really a big problem. It started off with her and her husband picking a specific time line that they preferred. Eventually, they picked on the 50s since both of them feel that it’s an era where their favorite rockabilly style was at its peak. This was actually a good thing since it helped my husband easily get the groom a grooming kit with engraved gold plate. The look was old-school leatherette which matched their theme perfectly.
The term “rockabilly” actually originated from an early style of rock and roll music. This was quite popular in the 1950s, but waned during the 60s and 70s. However, today, there are plenty of people that are discovering their love for rockabilly and are promoting it again. The music was a combination of rock music with country, or what was termed then as “hillbilly music.” Some of the main influences on rockabilly music included western swing, boogie and rhythm and blues.
My friend’s love for 50s music was also a determining factor on why they chose this era for their theme. The 50s style is definitely one of a kind. Personally, I love the idea of the vintage theme simply because guests can relive the era and enjoy it even during modern times. I’m pretty sure I’m going to enjoy dancing boogie on their reception night.
