Giving Gifts In The Workplace

Giving clients, co-workers and business contacts executive gifts is part of doing good business but there must be some things one should keep in mind before doing this.

For instance, one should first check if there’s a company policy regarding giving gifts to these people. There are instances where the company sets limits to how much and how many one is allowed to give away. This is only practical and reasonable because companies have a reputation to uphold in the business. No one likes to be accused of giving bribes, much less companies who have a lot going for them, which is why some limits are necessarily set. Of course, this also follows that you can never, ever give cash as presents to anyone you work with.

If you are giving gifts to your boss or someone who is your superior, you are not expected to give something very expensive, or to give any gift at all. There is no obligation to do that. At best, if you really want to impart a thoughtful gesture, you can give low profile gifts like food or wine and maybe even flowers.

Lastly, be considerate about the kind of presents you give to co-workers. Avoid giving them reasons to compare, so it’s best to give equal gifts instead.
