Asking for Cash Wedding Gifts
It’s one thing to be giving away gifts to your entourage, like that flower girl dress-up tote, but it’s another story when you actually ask to receive wedding gifts that you can use. For example, there are plenty of couples out there that are more interested to ask for cash gifts rather than traditional ones. If you are one of these couples, then there are simple ways that you can follow when it comes to asking for money gifts without seeming so greedy.
First, you might want to assign a relative to handle it, as well as other things like invites etc. Try getting one relative from each side so that the news will spread quickly. Second, couples before and now, have also tried just doing the initiative themselves. All they did was place the request on the invites like “Cash is much appreciated!” etc. This will help the guests know exactly what to give instead of scouting for the right household appliance to get you. Third, normally, when wedding bells are announce, the calls start to pour in. You can modify your answering machine greeting to include your preference for cash gifts. Fourth, you can also play an auction game right after the wedding or something. This will help you raise the cash that you need without looking like you are hoarding. Moreover, you can also simply specify that cash is the theme of your wedding gifts so that way guests won’t have to wonder so much.
