Keeping Time

During weddings, guests are often treated to a mandatory delay during the ceremony. Guests know that even if the couples specify a certain time that their celebration will start, it won’t actually begin until 30 minutes to an hour later. Although it might seem like an unusual practice, it is fairly common. For instance, even if the couple indicates the wedding will start at 4 PM, chances are, it’ll begin at 4:30 or even 5:00! Even if the groom carries around his Hercules modern watch money clip, weddings often give a leeway time for guests to arrive and get comfy. Besides, guests would still need to find their chair, chit chat with other guests before they actually sit down to take in the wedding ambiance, decor, etc.

Even if the couple is a bit rock n’ roll and won’t care much for time. These are often set by tradition. However, there are also couples that prefer to start a wedding exactly as they specified. There’s nothing wrong with this but always inform your guests that the ceremony will be starting at this and that time, sharp. It’s important that they know you are strict about this so that they won’t come in late thinking that they won’t miss anything because of the usual pocket of time they have.

Regardless of the type of wedding you want to have and whether you want to start it right away or not until later, always consider your guests perception. After all, you wouldn’t want to be starting the wedding with just you and the groom there, right?
