Wedding Planning Tips For Giving Wedding Gifts To Your Groomsmen

Guys don’t always consider themselves the best gift givers, probably because they don’t think they’re very good at shopping. However, you don’t need to be great at shopping or spend hours and hours at the mall or on the Internet to find the ideal gifts for your groomsmen. In fact, all it takes is taking a few minutes to think about your guy friends and what they would like.

There’s no system in buying groomsmen gifts. No program or piece of wedding planner software or event planning software is going to spit out the perfect answers. However, all you have to do is think a little bit about each of your groomsmen friends and what small gift they would like.

What do your friends like to do? Do they like to watch or play sports? If they do, you can buy them something sport related, like golf or bowling accessories, hunting gear or even car racing apparel. Are they handy around the house? Them some customized tool or handyman gear would be a great item. Do they enjoy the occasional drink? They you can buy them a flask or personalized mug. Whatever their pastimes or hobbies, find items that relate to the things they like to do and those are typically the perfect gifts.

Maybe you and your friends all like to have fun together, so throwing a big party or event for them might be a great gift idea, too. More than one groom has given his groomsmen a day of paintball battles or a night at the ballpark. This is a good way for you all to enjoy something you like and enjoy each other’s company, too. In addition, you can also take them out for a night of excellent food, wine and, of course, stogies.

Guys also usually like gadgets, and there are tons of tool-like gadgets out there (like a Leatherman) as well as electronic gadgets and gizmos that are sure to make them smile (even games and software might be right for your buddies). Gift certificates might be nice, but it’s always better to give your groomsmen gifts that are personalized to their likes and preferences, as it shows you’ve put thought into what you’re giving.

Finally, there’s the question of when to give out your gifts. You can consult wedding etiquette guides and even wedding software programs, but really anytime is a good time to give out your groomsmen presents. Your bachelor party and rehearsal dinner are both perfectly appropriate places to give out your gifts, but you should probably not give them out on your wedding night, seeing as how you’re going to be busy with pictures and greeting people and have many other things to do on your big day. It’s best to find a time when you can sit down and spend some time with your friends and give them their gifts one at a time.
