Wedding rings are symbol of love for each other and originally it was only the woman who wears it. But during the 20th century both the bride and groom wears wedding ring. The correct way of placing the ring depended on the culture of the couple. Some couple wears it on the left ring finger while others wear their wedding ring at the right ring finger. It is believed that the left hand is preferable because it is near to the heart of the person which also makes sense. The person whom you are going to marry is close to your heart that is why the wedding ring is placed in the left ring finger. Where would you put your wedding band?
